The big Lex luxury liner has been given an aggressive makeover for 2007. This is the official debut of the production version. Underneath the all-new bodywork, which was previewed by the LFS-H Tokyo concept, is a new stiffer structure. The exterior resembles a giant IS350, not surprisingly, given a radical departure from the current conservative car. The long-wheelbase version shown in Detroit spans 202.8 inches and is the first LS to feature a long-wheelbase option. A short-wheelbase variant is also available, likely the volume seller. The engine now measures 4.6 liters, up from 4.3 liters, and makes a much-improved 380 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque. Acceleration times from 0 to 60 are expected to be just below 5.5 seconds. Other notable improvements include the world's first passenger car use of an 8-speed automatic transmission (one more gear than in Mercedes’ 7-speed unit) and a seriously powerful Mark Levinson sound system. Overkill? Not really, considering Toyota's determined dominance as the new number one in America is to be expected for this calendar year. The '07 LS460 on sale this fall for a base price that should begin in the low $60,000 range in SWB guise.

Thanks for joining Lexusworld! I am/was PikaDemon and started a new journal as onyxravine. In the meantime...

I was able to test drive one of the RX400h. I currently own an RX330 and in the pic for this forum is my old RX300, which I traded for the RX330 XD. I must say, the 400h is quite the beautiful machine! I was a little surprised to see how the hybrid engine is (obviously) efficient in city driving and pointless on the highway. I guess that will come in time as well. Living down here in FL, the hybrid doesn't do much good as there is a lot of highway travel... I a, however moving to NJ in a couple of weeks so the 400h keeps sounding better and better. Lots of slow bumper to bumper driving in NJ and NY. Anyways it looks exactly the same as the 330 which was also a little upsetting. I thought they would give it a little more futuristic appeal. If you put one right next to a 330 they look exactly the same (except the rear door windows are slightly different). Ohwell, just my 2 cents. I still look forward to owning a 400h...maybe if they release a 430h...LOL. Catch y'all later!

I just joined this community so that I could spread the word. Obviously, Lexuses are the BEST CARS EVER!!! I have one and it's a joy. Unfortunately, I have to go to college in the fall and I have absolutely no money. So it is with a heavy heart that I must part ways with my Baby. I want it to go to a good home and since everyone here is a Lexus lover, y'all are the best candidates.

hey everybody! new member, but big lexus fan! both of my family's carz are lexues! '91 ls400 and '03 ls430. my '03 has the ecru wood trim that was only out for one year. my family is thinkin of purchasing another car, but im tellin my dad to wait until '06, when the new IS comes out. by that time, ill be able to drive!

Lexus Delays Hybrid

The Lexus RX 400h hybrid luxury crossover is delayed. The first cars aren't due off the line until April 2006, partly for extra development to reduce the characteristic hubbub of an engine working under a continuously variable transmission. Toyota is spinning it as a capacity issue, increasing the Prius production, and saying it doesn't want to launch the 400h until it has sufficient production at its assembly plant and at hybrid battery maker Panasonic.

Lexus Exceeds 9,000 Pre-Sold Customer Orders for 2006 RX 400h Hybrid

Hello Everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask questions, or not. I am trying out quite a few communities to see if I can get some responses to my problem. I am bored with my car... and I am currently stuck in a lease. I am looking to purchase or lease a new car, but it will be expensive for me to break the agreement I signed. I am hoping someone could make some suggestions of how I can get a new car without being asked for huge amounts of money on my down payment due to my lease. I was searching online, and have found a couple places that seem like they could help me. This place Lease Trading seems to be alright. I am not exactly sure how this process would work though. I've never used anything like this so if you have could you let me know what you think... that would be great. From everything I have read this place is legit. And they have some great luxury vehicles up... the website say that the can find someone to assume your lease so you dont have to pay... It also says I can cut the cost of breaking my lease in half. Well anyhow... I am rambling. Is a lease assumption even possible?

Overview
The RX 400h will be powered by a new version of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system that will pair the 3.3-liter V6 that normally powers the RX 330 with an electric motor.

Lexus says the hybrid system in the RX 400h is a breakthrough in hybrid technology in that it not only improves the fuel efficiency, but also improves the performance. The Hybrid Synergy Drive system in the RX 400h produces the equivalent of approximately 270 horsepower at peak power, compared to 230 horsepower for the current RX 330. The additional power will improve low and mid-range acceleration.

The RX 400h will use regenerative braking to improve efficiency with the electric motor functioning as a generator when the vehicle is coasting or braking and converting the energy that is normally lost during braking to electricity.

“We have found that it is not necessarily just about being green, or more fuel-efficient, or even about the higher level of performance. Rather it is all about delivering a better total package,” stated Denny Clements, Lexus Group vice president and general manager when describing the RX 400h.

The RX 400h will be the first Lexus to employ a new vehicle stability system called Vehicle Dynamic Management, which Lexus states will be less obtrusive but more effective than current stability control systems.

The RX 400h will become the top model in the RX lineup and the luxury and convenience will reflect that position. Nearly every feature available in the RX 330 will be found in the RX 400h.

In addition, the RX 400h interior will incorporate brushed aluminum trim for a more high-tech look to reflect the high-tech nature of the vehicle. A computer monitor for the hybrid system is located in the center of the instrument panel.

I have the lexus navigation in my car but was told I can buy a converter to be able to play DVDs and such on the actual navigation screen. Anyone familiar with this or know any website i can check out to do some research or any place that i can find info on this?

Lexus Concept Coming to New York
The New York Auto Show will host the debut of a new concept coupe from Lexus. The LF-C sport coupe, Lexus says, will have a high-output V8 as its powertrain. The vehicle displays "a new, more passionate design direction," and will blend versatility and luxury, Lexus says. Lexus holds its press conference at New York on Thursday, April 8.

Most of the IS300s that are 2001s are going for the same price! I went to a Lexus dealer and there was a 2001 with 41k miles on it and no Nav, spoiler, special wheels, and full leather...the asking price was the same. Though it was Certified Pre Owned.

I test drove the car and it seems flawless, no squeaks, smells, nothing...my mechanic is going ot check it out tomorrow so we'll see what happens then. Is it too good to be true?

Here we go :) Give it a whirl. I didn't set it up for every single lexus model or feature, but it has most of the cool ones. I will probably create one or two others in the near future (month or so). For those who don't know, that's a toyota aristo V300VE with the famed 2jz-gte engine. Thanks for lookin'.

We gather here in this community for our shared love of Lexus. They have & continue to make excellent cars that fit all sorts of needs. The LS430 competes with top end Mercedes, BMW's, & Audi's. The LX470 is a top competitor in the full size luxury SUV catergory. So my question for the members is: what should Lexus create as a new model? Or what can they do to their existing models to improve them? Any ideas? Thoughts?
